The Palamós OPP has recently incorporated a new isothermal electric vehicle to improve the distribution service for fish from the fish market. This acquisition is part of the project ‘Qualitative improvement in the logistics and promotion of fish from the fish market’, presented with the support of the GALP Costa Brava and co-financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFF) and the Government of Catalonia.

The new vehicle will improve the agility and efficiency of the service in collaborating establishments (such as hospitals, schools, soup kitchens, fishmongers and restaurants) and at the same time reduce the environmental impact associated with transport, as it replaces external combustion-based logistics systems.

The vehicle is 100% electric, isothermal and suitable for transporting fish under optimal conditions of hygiene and traceability.

In addition, from now on the product will also be distributed in reusable boxes, avoiding single-use waste.

This logistical improvement reinforces the Palamós OPP’s objective of promoting a more sustainable and closer fishing model, based on product quality, the reduction of emissions and the social value of local distribution.
